Progress of Wegan Manor Part 2!

Wegan Manor!

If you follow us on instagram then you will have seen the step by step progress of Wegan Manor, but for those who haven't seen it yet (or just to refresh your memory)... We have two blog posts covering our Bedroom, Kitchen and Dining Room (Lounge still to be developed).

Here's what we've been doing to change Wegan Manor from a house to a home...

When we first moved in, it was a little bit bare and definitely had no homely feel to it...

Then Whitney came along...

Previous Post: The Bedroom

The Kitchen

No sofa, floor will do...

MigS; Cath Kidston, Coffee pot: De Longhi

Glasses: Roost

Housewife in action!
Champagne Glasses: LSA
Cutlery and Plates: Bliss and Bloom

Mugs, toaster & kettle: John Lewis, Door matt: Huttons
Now this is our favourite part to Wegan Manor so far...

The Dining Room

We bought majority of our dining room furniture from this great shop in Bourne End called La Maison, we could buy literally everything in there. The owner is very helpful (and is good to bargain with).

We bought Annie Sloan chalk paint, light grey and light pink, and painted our ding table we got for a bargain as well as our fireplaces because we had too many different shades of woods going on. As Whitney sates: "it was like 50 shades of wood!" My sister Bethany helped with the painting so we managed to paint a dinning table, two fireplaces, top of a chesterdrawers, plus even a banister knob got turned pink!

Welcome to the girliest house ever.. Wegan Manor!

Lights & Photo frame: Next

New fairy lights: B&Q

Ushi's: Cardiff
At the moment our lounge is not a lounge.. unless you count a tumblr dryer (that's meant to be in the garage) as a sofa.. So one day once our lounge is nice and cosy with a gorgeous grey button back chesterfield sofa and the fire on, we'll present it to you. (& let's not even mention the spare bedroom, I mean walk in closet.. I mean bedroom..)

For now- that is the complete tour of Wegan Manor! So, what do you think?

Happy Thanksgiving Y'all!!

Happy Thanksgiving Y'all!!

We hope that you are all having a wonderful thanksgiving, to all our American peeps that follow us and to those that celebrate it anywhere that you are. This is Whitney's second time being in England on Thanksgiving, and the first time was in 2008 when we had just got together. We all celebrated in her student flat in London with her fellow American friends. This year Whitney is the lone American and has found today rather strange and she was a bit sad- we don't get this day off and certainly don't celebrate it in true American style. Instead tonight we went to Nando's with my sisters and friends! On saturday though we are having a belated thanksgiving with my sisters and friends and we are all cooking (eek Wegan in the kitchen!) so while it may be all of their first time having a thanksgiving, it's great everyone is coming together for it.
This year we are more than thankful for each other, our lives together and the end of long distance! What a year it has been, last year we celebrated in South Carolina and then I had to leave a few days later... never again!!
We are of course very grateful for our dear followers (Weganers!) thank you as ever for all your love and support!
What are you thankful for this year?

Best News Ever!!!

Yesterday we received the news we had been anxiously awaiting for...

WHITNEY HAS GOT HER VISA!!!

This means she is entitled to live and work here, for good. Phew!!! In two years it will be reviewed but we really have nothing to worry about anymore. No fears of "what if", we truly can live our lives together forever!

Whitney's Facebook status she posted after receiving the news sums it up beautifully:
"Just received the most amazing news! After 4 years of long distance with my now wife, many trips back and forth from country to country, lots of happy and sad airport arrivals and departures, a lot of wishing and hoping, lots of money we didn't have, lawyers, visas and the list goes on....I can happily and proudly say that, as of today, I am now an OFFICIAL PERMANENT RESIDENT OF THE UK!!!!!!!!!!! To make today even more of an amazing day, I also have a big job interview for an amazing company on Monday!!!! :D"

So hold up your glass of champagne and join us in celebrating- Wegan Forever!

Progress of Wegan Manor Part 1!

Wegan Manor!

If you follow us on instagram then you will have seen the step by step progress of Wegan Manor, but for those who haven't seen it yet (or just to refresh your memory)... We have three instalments of our Bedroom, Kitchen and Dining Room (Lounge still to be developed).
Here's what we've been doing to change Wegan Manor from a house to a home...
When we first moved in, it was a little bit bare and definitely had no homely feel to it...

Then Whitney came along...

The Bedroom

First came the blow up bed...

Blow up bed, fairy lights: Huttons, Duvet cover: Laura Ashley

and then the mattress...

Mattress: John Lewis

and then the bed itself!!

Bed: Next

Bedside Table: Next

New bedside lamps: Argos

TV finally on wall, and chester drawers in bedroom!
We have a Samsung TV that we use an HDMI cord to plug into our laptop to stream all our favourite American TV shows, we love a night of watching Dexter, Homeland, Modern Family, Criminal Minds and Breaking Amish! (Evidently all not in one night...) It was an amazing feel having the TV in our room, renting from Blockbuster for the first time and watching 'Think like a man' in our bed all nice and cosy. Ah- living the life! We're such grandmas!!
As you can see there is still a lot more to do to our bedroom but it's getting there! We plan to change the wallpaper behind our bed to a light grey and put our wall quote that we won by Urban Wall. Can't wait to get it up!!
Hope you enjoyed the first instalment of the progress of Wegan Manor.. and that you like what you see!
Stop on by next week we'll be bringing you our kitchen and dining table!

G'Day Mate From Our New Friends Eh!

G'Day Mate From Our New Friends Eh!

Introducing you to our Candian and Aussie friends

First up we have Georgia & Kaylee..

"Ouuut" and "Abooot" with Canadians

Back in September, the lovely Canadians Georgia visited with her girlfriend as they made their first stop to London on their European tour. We had never met before, but we had known each over online via our blogs for quite a while. (Her blog is great by the way, make sure to check it out!!) As soon as we all met up we hit it off straight away and got on great. After a drink in true English style, we took them to their first time at Nando's. Being fellow vegetarians (well vegans in fact) Nando's was still a hit with them. as Whitney says "a Nando is never a Nandon't!"

Not knowing how long they would stay at Wegan Manor, I had booked the next day off work to show them around Windsor. In fact Whitney had never properly toured Windsor, with the main stop being residence of the Queen- Windsor Castle. We walk pass it all the time, but it had been years since I had gone (& as a child, didn't really appreciate it).

Not only can you walk around the castle but you get to see the grandeur of the state apartments (VERY Wegan style haha) and also get to see the magnificent Queen Mary's Dolls Houses (not allowed to take photo's but I sneaked one).

Getting to show others your home town where you've grown up sure does make you appreciate it in a whole new light!

The girls ended up staying with us for the week and they were an absolute pleasure to have at Wegan Manor. We even had a night where Kaylee jammed with my sister Bethany (aka Freya) and we introduced them to English pancakes as Kaylee had made us her awesome pancakes (American / Canadian style?)

Even within that short amount of time we managed to merge as one- come back girls. We miss you!! & so does Wegan Manor...

To see what else the girls got up to on their tour on Europe and to check out her awesome blog visit Georgia Trying Something New.

G'Day Mate from the Aussies!

Introducing you to Danielle and Sarah!

Our friends Sarah and Danielle have recently moved back to the UK from Australia. Ok so I say the 'Aussies', and 'moved back', but that's not all necessarily true. Sarah is English and I know her from my University days, she moved out to Aus and met her girlfriend Danielle (you may remember their love story). So Sarah has moved back to study law, and Danielle has moved to the UK for the first time. So kinda Aussies moving back for a couple of years! :) Anyways, we were super glad to finally see them after maintaining contact for the two and a half years Sarah had been away. Of course I'd never met Danielle, and Whit had never met them- so it was a big first meet up. Again we hit it off great and had a fantastic weekend with them as they came to stay at Wegan manor. The funny thing is despite not knowing us in person, Danielle had helped pick out the most perfect house warming / wedding gifts (thanks girls!)

We headed to our new favourite restaurant for lunch- Yo Sushi! Whitney has been beyond happy that she can now eat her favourite good so easily, plus its still super yummy even if you're veggie. A fellow lover of Sushi, Sarah and Danielle thoroughly enjoyed their lunch and we then went to our usual pit stop- Starbucks! We enjoyed the seasonal drinks of Pumpkin Spice Latte and Salted Caramel Mocha.

We made our way home for some champagne before we had dinner at a Thai restaurant we had yet to try in Windsor. Luckily it was another hit!

The weekend flew by and before we knew it we were sad to say goodbye as Sarah had to hit the books. We're super glad that we all finally got to hang out, and can't wait to do it again soon!

Danielle has two awesome blogs that you also have to check out, Keeping Up With The Kalafiore and Master Chefette (can't wait to try her cooking!!)

So what other international friends can we make?? :)
