Looking for a lesbian show to fill your OITNB void?

Growing up we both would watch any TV series that we'd heard had a lesbian character in it. They may have featured in the 1 hour episode for 5 minutes, but it was worth it! Sadly they would often end up dating a man or being written out of the show, and we were left feeling frustrated for our own representation. Then The L Word came along, and for some, their lesbian prayers were answered. However the L Word is a thing of the past (& Netflix). Over the last few years, lesbian characters (and feminine ones at that) have started to play a much more prominent role in mainstream TV shows- with Emily in Pretty Little Liars and Callie & Arizona in Greys Anatomy, and of course Orange Is The New Black (which we now all have withdrawls from...)

But wouldn't it be nice if there was somewhere you could go and every single series featured lesbian characters- from start to end? Well close your eyes, wish tight... and open again...

tello.10.png

Your wish has come true! Presenting to you tello films. tello is a subscription web-series site dedicated to producing quality lesbian series. Every series on our site is made by, for, and about lesbians and lesbian-friendly allies. Every show on tello has lesbian lead characters, a lesbian storyline, and have at least one lesbian producer. Their mission is to support the creation of lesbian entertainment and encourage lesbian creators whose ideas aren't often welcomed in mainstream media.

Like us, the founder of tello felt the same. Fed up of seeing lesbian as watered down side-characters, tello aims to create great new web content that is intelligent but fun, timely but classic, and tasteful yet sexy, a whirlwind of classic ideas from a lesbian perspective; brave and challenging content with a lesbian twist.

tello.christin

Christin Baker founded tellofilms out of passion to provide modern and relevant lesbian-focused stories for the under-served lesbian community. With 15 amazing, original tello-produced projects under her belt and just as many in various levels of pre and post-production, Christin is determined to provide the lesbian community with the quality entertainment that they deserve and the stories that they crave.

So what can you expect to see on tello?

You can expect shows like these...

tello.4.png

One of the most popular shows is Nikki & Nora which follows New Orleans locals Nikki Beaumont (Liz Vassey) and Nora Delaney (Christina Cox), former NOPD cops turned private investigators. They navigate the channels of their personal life together alongside their dedication to uncovering the truth in the one city that really likes to keep its secrets, New Orleans.

The original Nikki & Nora pilot, shot in 2004, was the first lesbian-themed drama series in serious consideration for a network TV slot. When this “ahead of its time” series did not get an order, the pilot was leaked on the Internet to an underserved TV audience, a loyal fan base was created… And they never stopped loving their favorite Big Easy couple. YouTube exploded with videos and tributes to the couple, as well as fan-fiction sites dedicated to imagining and telling the stories of these two women who inspired them. Following a successful crowd-funding, you can now find Series 1 & 2 exclusively on tellofilms.

I Kissed a Girl

A new series to tellofilms is "I Kissed a Girl", which as you can imagine, is a documentary about girls and their first kisses. They've all got super cute Southern accents though! #winning

Plus One

Up & coming in August is Plus One, we just checked out the trailer and we're looking forward to it!

We thank you tello, and we just wished you existed 10 years ago!

If you're interested in checking out tello films (which we're sure you are) then we have some good news for our Weganers, you can have access to a free 2 week trial subscription by clicking here.

Enjoy! Let us know what you think and what shows we should check out!

So Gay Marriage Biblically Offends You? Then You Should Read This...

Following the wonderful news of SCOTUS legalising gay marriage throughout the USA, it was proclaimed worldwide that #lovewins. Everyone around the world celebrated this great step towards equality. As an American-English couple, we particlary rejoiced. However sadly soon came the hate, in particular from the South i.e Kentucky where Whitney is originally from. Among the many changing rainbow themed Facebok pictures popped up status updates from people back home spewing their hatred for LGBT people/ rights.  This is not to say that there wasn't any support from people back in Kentucky, because there has also been some amazing Southern people standing up for LGBT rights- from straights, to gays, to even a Pastor! The hate, however, could not be ignored.

Fed-up and fueld by their hatred, Whitney decided to write a blog post for The Huffington Post last Thursday.

Last night the post was finally published onto the Gay Voices section entitled "So Gay Marriage Biblically Offends You? Then You Should Read This..." Whitney thought that a few people would see it and hopefully it would help those who are struggling with being LGBT and Christian, and maybe, just maybe she would inspire a homophobic Christian to see it differently.

What she (nor I) didn't see coming was the vast spread of hateful comments on the post. It spread like wildfire and at the moment her article has over 3,000+ comments! There are too many to read through to see how much is actually posivite, but having seen some of the hateful comments, we're guessing 80% of it is by hateful, ignornat so-called "Christians"- who really are anything but Christian!

However there is most definitely a larger amount of positivity radiating from her article, with over 24,000+ likes on Facebook! She's received some amazing comments, messages and emails from LGBT people who are Christian and the support means so much. We're both absoloutely amazed, and slightly over-whelmed, by the response thus far. If you haven't already then give it a read here (& try to ignore the hateful comments).

I'm so proud of my wife for being so brave and staying true to herself and her religious beliefs. Give it a like and please do share it! & most of all, please don't forget that in the end, true love prevails all.

Want to know where are the lesbians are at?!

Then look no further!....

Ever been frustrated when walking into a gay bar to only spot one lesbian among a sea of gay men? Or wished that the UK would throw a big lesbian party akin to America's Dinah Shore? Expect, ya know, without the having to wear a bikini bit.

Well here's the answer to your prayers, and it's called L Fest! It's quite simply an award winning lesbian festival full of arts, music, comedy and... lots. of. lesbians. What more could you want? Oh how about a bit of glamping (there's even mirrors and plug sockets for hair dryers hair straighteners) or you could even stay in a turt! You can even bring your dog with you!!

You'll get to see the likes of X-factor contestant Lucy Spraggan and girl band Stooshe hit the stage, and readings from lesbian author Kiki Archer (who we love). There's lots going on, and whats more you can finally feel at home among a sea of lesbians!! Plenty of fish and all that ;)

It's a weekend event (though you can just go for the day) 17th - 20th July, and you can even get 10% off your ticket when you use the promo code 'Wegan'. Tickets therefore cost £89 instead of £99. You have to book through the group ticket area to use the promo code, but you can buy individual tickets this way.

If you go, let us know how it goes! Sadly we can't make it this year but we hope to attend the next one! Keep an eye on our Youtube as we may have a ticket giveaway coming your way!

You can thank us later!...
