Wegan Travels USA: Newport Beach Guide

We arrived in Newport Beach for only one day and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our recommendations are based on that day & night and we would have loved to stayed longer, but we hope this gives you a good starting guide if you're planning on going (which we recommend you do!)

NEWPORT BEACH: SLEEP, EAT, DO

We travelled from West Hollywood to Newport Beach and took the scenic route via Huntington Beach. This was the first proper road trip in our 2017 Landrover Discovery, rented from Hertz, and we loved it.

WHERE TO SLEEP:
Island Hotel:

We arrived at the Island Hotel Newport Beach and it felt like it was finally vacay time. The hotel's decor is coastal meets luxury meets effortless. It's located by the Fashion Island (right by Bloomingdales!) with views of the ocean and harbour. It also has a fab pool, bar and restaurant onsite. Plus, their beds are honestly so comfy! & we love it when a hotel room comes with a coffee machine (surprisingly, so many don't).

Visit Island Hotel.

WHERE TO EAT/ DRINK:

Tackle Box:

Located on Corona Del Mar State Beach (3029 E Shore Ave, Corona Del Mar, CA 9262) is the best seaside cafe you'll ever stumble across. Whitney had a shrimp roll (like a lobster roll) with chips (crisps) and I had Mexican corn and oh my goodness, we wanted to order everything off the menu! We also had a tasty watermelon fresca. They do breakfast too!

The RooftopLounge, Laguna Beach:

We met up with fellow social media gals, Allie & Sam and they suggested the Laguna Rooftop Bar (20 min drive from Newport Beach). It is located on the top floor of La Casa del Camino hotel (which had awesome live music playing on the ground floor). The sunset views from the rooftop bar are a must see (& we nearly missed it!) We enjoyed tasty cocktails, and randomly the best fried potatoes ever (sea salt & herb roasted potato's with parmesan, black garlic and truffle aioli... see, we're not lying!) Allie and Sam are super lovely girls and such a sweet couple, so check them out if you haven't already. They also kindly took a couple of photos of us. Always handy to be out with other bloggers!

WHAT TO DO:

You can rent these awesome pedego electric bikes to ride around Newport Beach. We opted to walk instead (watch our vlog to find out why) and equally enjoyed the walk; taking in the sights and the area of Newport Beach, it has such a great calm vibe. We ended up at the Corona Del Mar Beach and enjoyed a tasty lunch (see above). We hear that Little Corona Beach is a great spot for photo's but we didn't make it that far... next time!
