Looking for a lesbian show to fill your OITNB void?

Growing up we both would watch any TV series that we’d heard had a lesbian character in it. They may have featured in the 1 hour episode for 5 minutes, but it was worth it! Sadly they would often end up dating a man or being written out of the show, and we were left feeling frustrated for our own representation. Then The L Word came along, and for some, their lesbian prayers were answered. However the L Word is a thing of the past (& Netflix). Over the last few years, lesbian characters (and feminine ones at that) have started to play a much more prominent role in mainstream TV shows- with Emily in Pretty Little Liars and Callie & Arizona in Greys Anatomy, and of course Orange Is The New Black (which we now all have withdrawls from…)

But wouldn’t it be nice if there was somewhere you could go and every single series featured lesbian characters- from start to end? Well close your eyes, wish tight… and open again…

Your wish has come true! Presenting to you tello films. tello is a subscription web-series site dedicated to producing quality lesbian series. Every series on our site is made by, for, and about lesbians and lesbian-friendly allies.

Every show on tello has lesbian lead characters, a lesbian storyline, and have at least one lesbian producer. Their mission is to support the creation of lesbian entertainment and encourage lesbian creators whose ideas aren’t often welcomed in mainstream media.

Like us, the founder of tello felt the same. Fed up of seeing lesbian as watered down side-characters, tello aims to create great new web content that is intelligent but fun, timely but classic, and tasteful yet sexy, a whirlwind of classic ideas from a lesbian perspective; brave and challenging content with a lesbian twist.

Christin Baker founded tellofilms out of passion to provide modern and relevant lesbian-focused stories for the under-served lesbian community. With 15 amazing, original tello-produced projects under her belt and just as many in various levels of pre and post-production, Christin is determined to provide the lesbian community with the quality entertainment that they deserve and the stories that they crave.

One of the most popular shows is Nikki & Nora which follows New Orleans locals Nikki Beaumont (Liz Vassey)
and Nora Delaney (Christina Cox), former NOPD cops turned private
investigators. They navigate the channels of their personal life
together alongside their dedication to uncovering the truth in the one
city that really likes to keep its secrets, New Orleans.

The original Nikki & Nora pilot, shot in 2004, was the first
lesbian-themed drama series in serious consideration for a network TV
slot. When this “ahead of its time” series did not get an order, the
pilot was leaked on the Internet to an underserved TV audience, a loyal
fan base was created… And they never stopped loving their favorite Big
Easy couple. YouTube exploded with videos and tributes to the couple,
as well as fan-fiction sites dedicated to imagining and telling the
stories of these two women who inspired them. Following a successful crowd-funding, you can now find Series 1 & 2 exclusively on tellofilms.

A new series to tellofilms is “I Kissed a Girl“, which as you can imagine, is a documentary about girls and their first kisses. They’ve all got super cute Southern accents though! #winning
