Wegan Travels USA: West Hollywood Ultimate Guide

 WEHO: SLEEP, EAT, & DO

West Hollywood is a trendy, uber gay area in California where you will find rainbow flags on the streets, and even the cross walk! Located around Sunset Blvd, it has lots of great bars and restaurants, you certainly won't get bored in this area. We loved it!

WHERE TO SLEEP

We stayed at two hotels in the heart of Sunset strip...

The Standard Hotel

Our first stop in West Hollywood was at the OG, The Standard hotel (also as seen on Sex & The City!) When you walk in you'll find cactus plants, carpet on the ceiling and a bed behind the front desk... it certainly isn't your standard hotel! The pool is a great area to hang at, with blue astro turf, pool side cocktails and great food (including fab veggie options). The bedrooms and bathroom are basic but have an amazing balcony with LA views.

Visit The Standard.

The Mondrian

As soon as we stepped foot into the Modrian, we felt at home. From the gorgeous marble counter tops to the perfumed air and even TV in the mirror! (Or is it a mirror in the TV?!) It has a gorgeous chic pool area, that looks rooftop but it's actually on the bottom floor (que Megan going to the top of the hotel to find this out... ha!)

Visit The Mondrian.

WHERE TO EAT

Alma:

Located at The Standard, it feels like you've totally stepped into a different era that is futuristic yet retro. With locally sourced food, you'll find unusual flavours by Chef Taymor.

Visit Alma.

Kreation:

If you're craving something healthy then make a pit stop to Kreation for acai bowls, smoothies, health shots and yummy looking vegan (and some meat options) food.

Visit Kreation.

Gracias Madre

You HAVE to stop by here, it's a super tasy vegan Mexican restaurant with amazing cocktails. This time we only had cocktails (Megan's had shave ice in it!) but we had the food here last time so we can vouch for it!

Visit Gracias Madre.

Night + Market:

If you're craving Thai, then make sure to stop by Night + Market. Their green papaya salad is SO tasty!

The Butcher, The Baker and the Cappuccino Maker:

If you're looking for brunch, then look no further than BBCM. We had eggs benedict (the veggie one has avocado.. omg) on top of buttermilk biscuits.. and honestly we wanted to eat everything off their menu! Their coffee was ah-mazing also.

Alfred's:

If instagrammable coffee and tea shop is your thang, then head on over to Alfred's Coffee Shop and Tea Room. Look out for the funny one liners on their coffee sleeves of convo's overheard in LA!

Visit Alfred's.

WHAT TO DO:

Shape House:

We saw the Kardashians at the Shape House and we were super intrigued and jumped at the chance to go. You are wrapped in a thermal blanket, with Netflix to watch while you sweat out all of your toxins. It was an amazing experience and it has so many benefits. We'd love to go again!

Visit Shape House.

Training Mate:

We saw Training Mate on an episode of Khloe's Revenge Body so we couldn't wait to check it out ourselves. Turned out we had booked a very arms focused work out but the trainer was amazing at helping me with different exercises due to Handy. It was so much fun, high energy and a great workout. We'd be there weekly if we could!

Visit Training Mate.
