We had the pleasure of teaming up with Enjoy Illinois attending Chicago's 50th Annual Pride Parade located on Chicago's Uptown and Lakeview neighbourhoods. The energy and sense of community was incredible. In homage of Stonewalls 50th Anniversary, the theme was "Stonewall 50: MILLIONS of MOMENTS of PRIDE" and approximately 1 million people took part in the festivities!
Unfortunately a storm came along and rained on our parade! The parade sadly had to finish early but the spirit of Pride still remained.
Lady Gaga's lyrics definitely came to life with this parade:
"No matter gay, straight, or bi
Lesbian, transgendered life
I'm on the right track baby
I was born to survive
No matter black, white or beige
Chola or orient made
I'm on the right track baby
I was born to be brave"
We were honoured to be able to be amongst a proud and open minded community and loved being able to show our support as a proud and open married lesbian couple.
Below are some highlights of the pride parade that we were able to capture:
The Mayor of Chicago,
Lori Lightfoot, (the first openly gay, black, female mayor!) was in attendance, proudly walking holding hands with her partner. You can spot the back of her head in the below photo, unfortunately we couldn't get a better shot due to our height and police in the way.
Strike a Pose!
Thank you Enjoy Illinois for a great experience!
