Today Is THE Day!!

Wow. I'm writing this on the eve before our Civil Partnership. All day it has felt very strange that tomorrow is THE day that we become wife and wife! Still hasn't hit us properly.. but the nerves are there. Even though it's a small ceremony and the BIG wegging is still to come.. it's still SUCH a big day for us. We get to share it with our nearest and dearest, but it's still nerve wracking at the thought of the attention, saying the vows.. and that it all goes to plan! (If this has been stressful to sort out, what will the big day be like?!)

Think of is at 2.30pm today that will be when we are having our ceremony! Then afterwards join us and raise a glass of champagne to the wedded life of Wegan!

From London 2008...

To the proposal in Hawaii 2011..

The Civil Partnership 2012... (pictures to follow soon!!)

The 'Wegging' 2014!

What a journey we've been on so far.. and it's only just begun.

1 Week Until Big Small Day!!

1 Week Until Big Small Day!!

Time is flying by. It is very surreal to think this time next week we will be officially 'married'. (I am so grateful that the UK has civil partnerships, but I do hate we cannot call it a marriage). It is rather funny to think that today is just like an other Friday, I went to work and Whitney got to lie in. However waking up next Friday is going to be VERY different!! We can't really even comprehend how we're going to be feeling that day... As we haven't had the crazy amounts of planning that you associate with a wedding (though it's still been stressful!) its very surreal that we are soon to be exchanging rings in a matter of days.

It's funny thinking back. Originally we had decided we would have a VERY small ceremony with just two witnesses and not even announce it. That way we could still plan the BIG day for 2014 without any of the special planning already having been done. However we're really glad that we changed our minds. We now have a total of 20 of us attending (select few close family and friends), and we are looking forward to celebrating in Wegan style afterwards.

We have our Victoria Secret bridal dressing gowns, our dresses, heels and wedding bands all ready to go.

1 week- here we come!!!

Love Stories ♥ Karen & Jen

With just two weeks to go until our civil partnership (OMG!), we thought we'd spread the love with another love story! Yet another couple who has found true love via the internet.  This story shows that love does really conquer all and we can make it through anything life throws at us.

Love Stories ♥ Jennifer & Karen

Jen and I “met” on-line.  Our first face-to-face meeting (date) was for coffee at a local diner after work.  As soon as I saw her, she took my breath away.  I was so nervous because she is so beautiful and I thought she was way cooler than I am.  We hit it off and made plans for dinner the following weekend.  By the second date, I knew I was in love with her.  We wanted to spend every minute we possibly could together.  We laughed all the time and were so silly.

However, life is never all fun and giggling, unfortunately.  I was in the process of an extremely ugly divorce.  We both have two children.  Neither of us had come out to anyone.  But everything seemed possible, if we were together.  Then one night, Jen shared with me that she had a best friend named Colleen.  She told me Colleen was a beautiful, femme lesbian who was known as “the flipper” because she could turn any straight girl gay.  Colleen clearly was a funny and amazing girl who was a positive influence in Jen’s life.  Jen told me so many funny stories about Colleen and the fun things they did.  I couldn’t wait to meet her.

Then Jen started to cry and told me that Colleen had been diagnosed with breast cancer.  She moved from Pennsylvania to West Palm Beach, Florida so her parents could care for her.  She fought cancer, beat it and they were so happy and hopeful.  Colleen had even fallen in love-with her oncologist.  She had told Jen that her doctor was hot and she was going for it.  Her doctor had even proposed.  Colleen didn’t marry her, though.  Her cancer came back.  Jen told me then that Colleen had died seven months before I met Jen.  Jen never got to say goodbye.  We were both crying then and right there, I decided to get tickets to West Palm beach and give her the chance to say goodbye to Colleen, which we did the following summer.

We went to Colleen’s favorite beach in the middle of a hurricane.  We were at the beach for two hours.  When we got there, the skies cleared, the sun came out and we swam in the ocean, walked on the beach.  We held hands, cried for her friend and felt that she was there with us.  When we left the beach, the hurricane weather started back up.  It really was miraculous that we were able to have that time.

That was six years ago.  Since then, we have had a long, bumpy road.  We both came out.  Our ex-husbands found each other on Facebook and caused a ton of legal problems.  We even had a homophobic judge rule that Jen wasn’t allowed to live in our home while my children were here-because my ex-husband said so.  We have had two more beautiful friends pass away.  Our kids have had issues with one another.  We even broke up for a year.

Through all of that, though, I always remembered our beautiful, miraculous day at the beach.  The day the hurricane stopped for us-and I knew the hurricane of trouble would eventually stop.  There was always a tie and just never let go.  The hurricane has stopped.  We stick together and we are stronger for all we have endured.  I have never been happier in my life.  We are engaged and planning a wedding-just the two of us and I know that it will be beautiful, just like Jennifer.
What a beautiful story. All the pictures included are from that day at the beach. Also, it was Colleen's birthday on 13th September. Rest In Peace Colleen, you sounded like an amazing woman. We're sorry to hear that you suffered at the hands of homophobia. All the best Jennifer and Karen- send us your wedding photos!

Ola! Back From Portugal!

Olaaaa everyone!!

We are back from the most wonderful trip to Portugal.

Our week there flew by, it was truly the best holiday we have ever been on. It had been a while since the whole Evans family had been on holiday together, and this time we had the added pleasure of Whitney and Harry with us. It was a great bonding experience and we all fell in love with Portugal itself. If you're looking for the most amazing weather (blue skies and sun daily) with a very welcoming culture then we definitely recommend Portugal!

We set off bright and early at 3.30am on Saturday 1 September, and due to massive queues for easy jet we VERY nearly missed our flight! Great way to start a holiday- stressed! We also experienced for the first time where you don't have seats book, you get on the plane and pot luck if you manage to get seats together. Luckily we did both ways, and we had the sister Bethany in tow.

This is to show you how pasty we were leaving!!

We flew into Faro and headed to Sao Rafael, Albufeira. We arrived fairly early to our villa and we literally ran to our pool with a view- and what a view it is!!

We had a very relaxing holiday, we spent most of the time sunbathing and swimming in the pool.

Whitney is a mermaid, if you didn't know.

There was also gorgeous beaches just down the road. Each beach has a restaurant/ bar which is great, and exactly what you need! Our nearest beach was Praia Dos Arrifes.

The beach bar/ restaurant we frequented the most was A Sardinha, which did great cocktails and amazing fish (however if you're a vegetarian, the lack of food is the only down side that I experienced).

We ventured slightly further afield to Praia Sao Rafeal beach- right next  to a 5 * hotel which looked amazing!

We also enjoyed heading to the bar in the evening for a cocktail with everyone

Look at my girls cute freckles!! (She hates them, I think they're adorable).

We also witnessed the most stunning sunsets

We celebrated our 3 years and 11 months anniversary on 5th September. That day we headed into the Marina where they had many cafes and restaurants.

We decided it would be a great idea to do a boat trip to see the coast and caves... for three hours. After about 10 minutes Whitney and I started to feel sea sick.. as well as Lauren, Bethany, Harry.. and it seemed majority of the boat. Bad idea!!!

Before the sea sickness...

Sea sickness time!! :(

The funny thing is we decided to get off the catamaran to go on a smaller boat that takes you to the caves to see if this would help us feel less sick- which it did. In doing so however I stubbed my big toe really bad, and it still hurts to this day!! We should have just stayed at our villa...

The majority of the week we ate in, as my mother loves to cook. On the thursday we all went out to dinner at Sardinia. Despite it being very be be achy and relaxed, we took it as our chance to dress up!

Before we knew it, our last day had sadly arrived. We were certainly not ready to leave and longed for more days there! We absolutely loved where we stayed and will definitely be taking a trip back there... soon!!

P.s 16 days until our Civil Partnership!!
